Ayurveda is a traditional form of medicine and treatment which is older than 5000 years. It is not only a system to cure disease but also a system which teaches us how to achieve perfect health. There are various ayurvedic treatments which are conducted for various reasons. They are mentioned as follows:

Sirovasthi:
It is a type of ayurvedic treatment in which warm herbal and medicinal oil is poured in the cap which is fitted on the head. The oil is left in the cap for nearly 45 minutes and this treatment is done for 7 consecutive days. It is very helpful for those people who are suffering from facial paralysis, dryness in mouth, nostrils and throat, headache and other disease related to the head.

Pizhichil:
It is form of ayurvedic treatment in which warm medicinal oil is applied on the entire body. The therapist massage the body for nearly 60 minutes and this treatment is done for 7 to 21 consecutive days. It is very helpful for those people who suffer from diseases like paralysis, arthritis, nervous weakness and nervous disorders.

Njavarakizhi:
It is a type of ayurvedic treatment in which certain medicinal puddings are applied on the entire body or in certain specific areas of the body. This treatment is done for 60 minutes for 14 consecutive days. It is very helpful for people suffering from joint pains, high blood pressure and certain skin diseases.

Sirodhara:
It is a treatment in which herbal oil, medicated milk and medicated butter is poured on the forehead for 40 minutes. This treatment is done for 7 to 14 consecutive days. It is very helpful for people suffering from headache, mental tension, loss of memory, insomnia and certain skin diseases.

Vasthi:
It is process in which certain herbs and herbal oil is applied on the rectum for 5 25 consecutive days. It is helpful for people suffering from paralysis, numbness, gastric, chronic constipations and arthritis.

Udvarthanam:
It is treatment in which herbal powder is applied on the entire body for nearly 30 minutes and is done for 14 consecutive days. The treatment is effective on those suffering from obesity, paralysis, skin disease, impaired circulation and hemiplegia.

Abhyangam:
It is treatment in which herbal oil is applied on the body for nearly 45 minutes and for 14 consecutive days. The treatment is effective on those suffering from skin disease, sleeplessness, fatigue and obesity.

Nasyam:
In this treatment herbal juice and medicated oil is poured through the nose and is done for 7 to 14 consecutive days. This treatment is effective on people suffering from headache, mental disorders and skin disease.

Kizhi:
The herbal leaves or powder which is dipped in medicated oil is applied on the entire body in this treatment. It is done for nearly 40 minutes and for 7 to 14 consecutive days. It is helpful for those people suffering from sports injuries and spondylosis.

Sandhi Vatha Chikilsa:
It is a massage with herbal oil which is applied on the affected parts of the body. It is very effective on people suffering from arthritic conditions like gout, arthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, etc.

Snehapanam:
The word means oral intake of medicated oil or ghee. It is a process of body purification therapy. In this treatment medicated oil is given internally in proportionate quantity for a period of 8 – 10 consecutive days. It is very helpful for people suffering from psoriasis chronic constipation, osteo arthritis, etc.

Kativasthi:
It is a treatment in which medicated oil is kept over the lower back which is bounded by herbal paste. This treatment is done for 45 minutes. It is effective on people suffering from back pain and spinal disorders.

Urovasthi:
It is a treatment which is similar to that of Kativasthi however in this treatment the war medicated oil is kept over the chest for nearly 45 minutes. It is helpful for people suffering from heart disease, asthma, muscular chest pain and all kinds of respiratory problems.

Ksheeradhoomam:
It is a treatment in which a mixture of medicinal decoction and milk is heated together and this steam is passed to a tube and is applied over the entire body. It is effective on people suffering from facial paralysis, all kinds of nervous disorder and speech disorder.

Thalam:
The herbal powder mixed with medicated oil is applied on the top of the head and is left for nearly 30 minutes. It is effective for people suffering from ENT problems, insomnia, migraine, etc.

Lepanam:
It is a treatment in which medicinal herbal paste is applied on the affected parts of the body. It is effective on people suffering from skin disease, gout, inflammatory conditions and arthritis.

Thalapothichil:
In this treatment various herbal paste is applied on the scalp and is left for nearly
30 minutes. The treatment is effective for premature, graying, insomnia and problems related to hair.
